Words of Farzana Majeed, sister of abducted Zakir Majeed Baloch, at HRCP meeting
Farzana Majeed is sister of abducted Zakir Majeed Baloch, the senior Vice Chairman of BSO-Azad.
Zakir Majeed Baloch, 27 (at the time of abduction), and a Master's student in English from Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, was abducted by Pakistan's intelligence agencies from Mastung Balochistan, on 8th of June, 2009. He was abducted while he was on his way from Parangabad market to a friend Waheed Baloch's house. Waheed Baloch and Basit Baloch are eye witnesses this incident. The eyewitness's accounts have also been published by Asian Human Rights Commission's webpage. It says:
"His alleged abductors drove up in two cars without number plates and asked the young man a few questions; saying that they were intelligence agents. They took Majeed away with them in their cars without making any charges. One car was a Toyota Vego, the other a Toyota Surf SSR."
Summary Farzana's speech: Zakir is among one of the thousands of abducted Baloch activists who languish in Pakistani torture cells. His family is one of the thousands of families directly affected by state terrorism -- abductions, torture and extra judicial killings.
In this speech she is extremely bitter against those Baloch who, after years of experiencing Pakistani atrocities and terror against Baloch people, are still willing to participate in upcoming Pakistan elections. She says, "I have no complaints against Punjabis or Pakistan because I do not belong to them. They are doing what they're supposed to do. However, those who claim to be well-wishers of Baloch are going to become partners of Pakistan in its murderous policies against Baloch people. Maybe it is because these people have not lost a loved one.
Directly pointing at Hasil Bezinjo and Jan Mohammad Builidi of National Party she says, "These people cannot understand my mother pain because their loved one have not been abducted by ISI, Intelligence agencies. They did not lose any of their sons, brothers, daughters or sister that's why they cannot even imagine what the families of abducted Baloch go through."
She says she doesn't have faith in any institution of Pakistan as she has knocked the door of all these institutions but none of them helped her and other Baloch families to bring back their loved ones. The abductions of Baloch youth, mostly the educated and young professionals continue unabated and so does the kill and dump policy by the state of Pakistan.

Professor Saba Baloch - We miss you
Sohaib Mengal wrote this article on first martrydom anniversary of Saba Dashtyari Baloch and I read at Baloch Cultural and Musical event in London on 2nd June 2012 in remembrance of Qandeel-e-Baloch
Since the day our land has gone into the hands of barbaric occupiers, Baloch nation has lost many great sons but there have been few deaths that made almost every one of us cry like a child. One of such tragic losses was when Ustad Saba Dashtyari Baloch was murdered.
The legendary teacher of Baloch nation was brutally killed exactly a Year ago by the Pakistani Army.
Who was this legendary teacher that was considered a guru by many Baloch youth?
Ustad Saba’s ancestors basically belonged to Lasbela, eastern Balochistan but they subsequently migrated to Dashtiyar in Western Balochistan and finally settled in the historical Baloch city of Mai Kolachi or Karachi. It was the year of 1953; the lower middle class family of Mohammad Usman and the area of Maripur where Ghulam Hussain opened his eyes, he was to turn into the respected Ustad Saba for the Baloch nation in coming years.
In his early days of life, Ustad Saba was raised in the company of famous Baloch writer, novelist and Poetess, Banal Dashtiyari and the famous Baloch intellectual Syed Hashmi. Saba attained his earlier education from Lyari and did his matriculation from Okahi Memon School. He did his intermediate from SM commerce college Karachi in 1973. He graduated in 1976. Later Mr. Dashtyari obtained Master’s degree in Islamic studies and Philosophy.
He started with his PhD in 1979 but got a job as lecturer in Balochistan University and preferred to help his nation through teaching profession instead of continuing his further studies. From 1979 till his brutal murder in 2011 he remained a professor of theology in Balochistan University. He was fluent in many languages including English, Persian and Arabic.
He started his literary work by writing poetry in Urdu and subsequently began writing in Balochi. He wrote his first poem on the death of famous Baloch singer Ustad Jharok.
In 1984, Inspired and encouraged by famous Baloch writer Abdullah Jan Jamaldini, Ustad Saba completely abandoned writing in Urdu language and solely adopted Balochi language for his literary works. He started writing poetry and short fiction stories for Radio Balochistan.
Ustad Saba himself was very much inspired by the personalities of Syed Hashmi and Abdullah Jan Jamaldini. He considered them his teachers and gurus.
In 1983 Ustad became a member of Syed Academy, a Balochi literary academy and became its Vice President in 1988. He also became the deputy editor of monthly magazine Balochi in 1988 and founded a literary organization Chaidag in the same year. In 1994 his fiction work Hon o Hosham was published. He was author of at least 24 books.
He devoted his whole life for the promotion of Balochi language and culture because he believed that until and unless Baloch don’t realize the importance of their culture they could never surface as an independent and civilized nation in real terms.
Though Ustad taught theology but he was a liberal and open-minded person who was not reluctant to discuss any topic that others considered taboo.
One of his greatest achievements was laying down the foundations of a premier Balochi language academy, Syed Hashmi Library, in 1996 in Karachi. Syed Hashmi Library started fully functioning in 2002. It’s not just a library but a treasure for the Baloch nation. It has hundreds and thousands of books on Balochi literature. It is the only place in the world where more than 95% of all the published magazines or pamphlets of Balochi language are found. During the last days of his life he was planning to form a Balochi encyclopaedia committee and a research academy by the name of Balochelogy institute of Research. Professor Saba spent most of his Salary on promotion of Balochi language and improvement of the library. He also used to pay the education fees of many Baloch students who couldn’t afford.
His talent and intellect was not only limited to literary works but he was also a great activist and big supporter of Independent Balochistan movement. After the murder of Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti in 2006, Ustad Saba practically started participating in protests and activism for the legitimate rights of his people. He witnessed the extra-judicial killings of his own students but he never trembled on his stance. He revolted against the tyranny and started leading marches and protests against Pakistani occupation of Balochistan. Not confined to this, he also made with his teachings a whole platoon of Baloch students who are armed with ideologies that stand firm as mountains and who would never retreat or surrender. He preached liberalism to Baloch youth for many decades.
Due to Ustad Saba’s enormous achievements and help for the Baloch movement he was rightly titled Qandeel-e-Baloch by Baloch national defence forces.
The tyrant enemy of Baloch nation could never tolerate a Baloch who was a walking institution, University and an encyclopaedia in himself. The enemy knew that this person was enriching the minds of Baloch youth with ideologies that will be driving force for the struggle against slavery for years. A struggle that can never be defeated with brutalities. Out of this fear the brutal enemy killed our beloved Saba.
Ustad we miss you. We miss that humble person in his own classical attire who was not less than an angel. Ustad we miss the way you smiled whenever you saw your students. We miss that warm welcome Ustad. We miss the way you kissed your students whenever you met them irrespective of whether you personally knew them or not. Ustad we miss those chats we used to have in the cafeteria of Balochistan University where you used to treat everyone of us as your friends. We miss those discussions where we used to discuss everything. Dear Ustad Saba we miss those difficult Balochi words that you used, and we also miss those long definitions that would tell us when we used to ask the meanings of those difficult words. Ustad you were not an individual but an institution.
Ustad we miss your teachings But Ustad let us also tell you a good news that your students are fighting the tyranny with full zeal and power. The uncountable brutalities, enforced disappearances and murders could not tremble the cognizant students that you had equipped during your lifetime.
Ustad they have killed many of those who used to sit with you in the cafeteria but they couldn’t break them. The thousands that you had equipped with ideologies are still fighting the enemies and due to your earnest teachings they are increasing in numbers with each day. Dear Ustad our enemy has lost it at many fronts and it is not far when your students will bring the enemy to the justice and probe them for the brutalities including your heartbreaking murder. Ustad you were unique and irreplaceable but your teachings are always there with us and with strength of these teachings we will defeat all the intruders and occupiers.

Murder of eight innocent Bugti Baloch is a national tragedy: Baloch Salvation Front
Quetta :
The Baloch Salvation front, a coalition of Baloch Gohaar Movement, Baloch Liberation Party, Baloch Watan Movement, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of eight innocent Bugti Baloch by Pakistan army on Sunday in Sui, Balochistan.
The BSF said that the Pakistani state is killing innocent unarmed civilians to conceal its defeat at the hands of Baloch freedom fighters. “The state should remember that mass abductions and mass killings cannot deter the Baloch freedom movement,” said the BSF in their press statement.
The Baloch pro-freedom coalition further said that killing of eight innocent Baloch, who had gathered to pay their last respects to one of their deceased loved ones, was slap on the face of the current puppet government and it contradicts the claims of government that the security forces in Balochistan will be contained.
The BSF said that the current Pakistani government was also continuing the state sponsored atrocities their predecessors in Balochistan. “Those people who are trying to portray the Baloch struggle for liberation as some so called rights [greater share in resources and royalty etc] in their efforts to mislead the international community, should understand that solution of Balochistan issue is connected with freedom of Balochistan. Baloch are neither angry nor are they fighting for royalty or jobs in fact they are fighting for the independence of Balochistan.
The Baloch Salvation Front said that Pakistan cannot deceive the international community any longer as it lost its trust and credibility in the eyes of world community.
The BSF said, “The echo of the Baloch freedom movement can be heard in every corner of the world. The sacrifices of Baloch youth are providing fuel and energy to the Baloch liberation struggle.”
Paying tributes to the victims of Dera Bugti massacre the BSF said the occupying forces must remember that they cannot eliminate the Baloch struggle by state sponsored terrorism because the Baloch national freedom struggle is a fact and reality. Pakistan cannot keep its occupation over Balochistan with arrests, torture and kill and dump. It is a fact that no occupying force can stay in the occupied territory forever. The occupier will have to accept their defeat in Balochistan and withdraw their forces.
State forces attack Post-funeral reception of families of Sui massacre victims and abduct two. - BRP
The state forces continue brutalities against the Baloch people in Balochistan. The armed forces of Pakistan attacked a Post-funeral reception of the relatives of the people killed during a military offensive in “Sunari Tilli Matt” area of Sui on Sunday. The family and relatives of the victims were receiving the condolences on the death of their loved ones in Sui town today when the forces attacked the ceremony and tortured the people came to offer their condolences.
The forces abducted several people including two brothers namely Ashraf Bugti s/o Pondhal Bugti and Dostain Bugti s/o Pondhal Bugti and threaten the people came to express their condolence and sympathies to the family of the victims of Sui massacre. The families and relatives of the victims were severely beaten up and the ceremony of the post-funeral reception was forcibly ended by the forces.
The so-called Islamic republic of Pakistan and its forces do not respect people’s right to remember and pray for their deceased ones. Baloch civilians attacked by the forces on Sunday in “Sunari Tilli Matt” were holding a remembrance ceremony of a deceased one when the state forces opened indiscriminate fire and killed eight & wounded twenty other, and today the relatives of those killed were on a post-funeral reception when the forces attacked, tortured and abducted the family members of the victims.
State forces claimed that those killed during military offensive in Sui operation were armed insurgents but reality is they were all innocent Baloch civilians which is now supported by the recent statement of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan where prominent Human Rights activist Asma Jahangir says that “While the HRCP was in Balochistan, seven young men were picked up from Mathh area of Dera Bugti by the FC and subsequently summarily executed. Reportedly, their mothers were callously told to take a good look at the faces of their sons, as that would be their last opportunity to do so.”
Pakistani forces are also increasing their presence in Noshki area of Balochistan. A large number of troops and military equipment are being brought in from last many days and it has become a routine for the forces to randomly pick up innocent Baloch civilians from different places, take them to their camps and torture them for hours or days. Baloch Republican Party appeals to the international community to end their prolonged silence over the genocide of the Baloch people, state atrocities, human rights abuses and war crimes perpetrated by the state forces in Balochistan.
Pakistan military killed eight innocent civilians and wounded twenty in Sui Balochistan: BRP
Dera Bugti : Pakistani security forces opened indiscriminate fire on a remembrance ceremony in Sui area of Dera Bugti in Balochistan on Sunday (Today) leaving at least eight people dead and twenty wounded.
According to details today, the armed forces of Pakistan launched a fresh major offensive in Sui areas. Dozens of vehicles of the forces laid a siege to Sonari Tilli Matt and surrounding areas and started to indiscriminately attack the innocent civilian populace.
The Baloch Republican Party alleged in a statement that the forces violently entered the houses and violated the sanctity of the households, harassed and tortured the residents including women and children. They also looted the valuables from houses including cash, jewellery and livestock, and subsequently destroyed them by setting fire on them or blowing them up with explosives.
The worst of all happened when the forces attacked a ceremony which was being held in memory of a deceased person near “Sonari Tilli Matt”. The forces have reportedly opened indiscriminate fire on the gathering and killed at least eight innocents and wounded around twenty others.
Many among injured are in critical condition and it is feared that the number of killed in the firing will increase because the military is not allowing medical teams access to the area. The eight civilians killed today were identified as Shaban s/o Dallu, Dost Mohammad s/o Shaban, Murad s/o Dallu, Taaro s/o Jamal Khan, Angali s/o Kher Mohammad and Yousaf s/o Shehan. “All the victims belong to Bugti Baloch tribe and seven of them are from same family,” the BRP in its statement.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani media reported that the military has killed at least six militants during an operation but the BRP refuted the claimed of Pakistani media saying that they were misreporting the incident. The BRP says all the killed were innocent and unarmed civilians.
“We international community, human rights groups and the international media to send their fact-finding missions to investigate report and expose the gross Human Rights violations, atrocities and war crimes perpetrated by the Pakistani forces in Balochistan. The international media that raises voice for even smallest issues must also report the massacre of innocent Baloch and expose the real ugly face of Pakistani forces,” BRP said in its press release on Sunday.
It further said that Pakistan was still being run by the military and claims of Pakistani politicians that there is an elected government have no credibility, adding that the state was not interested in resolving the Baloch problem in fact it was working on a policy of ‘No Baloch No problem.’
The Baloch Republican urged the international institutions such as United Nations and European Union to declare Balochistan an occupied territory and send their teams to investigate the war crimes of Pakistani forces.
