500 additional Sindh police force called to restore peace

Karachi (PPI): An additional force of 500 policemen has been called from interior of province under a well-planned strategy to combat the crimes especially the extortion, targeted killings and kidnapping for ransom in Karachi.
The additional force has been deployed at different places in the city, while the measures are being taken to strengthen the number of police personnel deployed at posts and pickets particularly in old city trade centers. Moreover, 1000 surveillance cameras are being installed at trade and business centers and they would start functioning shortly, as currently these cameras are being tested.
Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmed Shah gave this information at a meeting held last night at the Chief Minister's House between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and a delegation of All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI).
The delegation consisted of Jamil A. Paracha, Ansar Baig Qadri, Muhammad Ahmed Shamsi, Sharjeel Goplani, Sabir Fensi, Zubair Ali Khan and Ismail Lalpuri. Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Additional Secretary Home Syed Sohail Akbar Shah, IGP Mushtaq Shah, Deputy Director Rangers Brig. Muhammad Rafique Khan, Additional IGP Karachi and other officials were present.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah listened to the problems and suggestions of traders and told that concrete planning has been done for smashing the network of extortionists and other criminals, and claimed that the city would soon return to normalcy.
Chief Minister told that the government of Sindh would pay compensation to legal heirs of those traders who were affected by the terrorists and criminals. He asked the AKTI to provide details of affected traders on its letterhead along with copies of FIRs. He advised them to submit the applications relating to incidents taken place during current year to the chairman of concerned commission.
Qaim Ali Shah on a demand, directed the Additional Secretary Home to issue arms licenses to the traders on the recommendation of their bodies. 'We will soon restore the confidence of traders by securing their life and property,' he assured.
He also directed for early and safe recovery of kidnapped traders and increasing the numbers of cops at police posts and pickets. He told the delegation that his Principal Secretary Agha Jan Akhtar would be focal person for coordination with traders.
Deputy Director Rangers informed that they received 33 complaints from October 2011 to March 2012 and all were resolved while arrested 11 extortionists up to June 2012.
