UN should acknowledge the Baloch struggle and take notice of Balochistan’s occupation: BNV

Quetta :

The Baloch National Voice has applauded the decision of United Nations to give Palestine the status of non-member observer state, and said “It is the moral duty of all member states of UN to acknowledge the national liberation struggle of Baloch nation, which is in accordance with the UN Charter.”

BNV requested the member states to take immediate notice of on-going brutal repression and human rights violations in Balochistan by Pakistan. The world is aware that Baloch were not a part of Pakistan and they will never be part of it. Baloch were the owners of a sovereign and independent state long before Pakistan came into existence. Pakistan and its Punjabi Army violated the sovereignty of Baloch national state and occupied it at gunpoint.

The Baloch National Voice said, “The Baloch nation has been striving to restore the sovereign and independent status of Balochistan from the day one of occupation. Pakistani forces are using all their might and conducting a full scale calculated genocide of Baloch nation to maintain their occupation on Balochistan.”

The BNV in their statement further said that the Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo are considered the most inhuman detention centres and the investigation procedures are considered brutal but even then the representatives of Human Rights Organisations have access to these places. Various reports, pictures and video clips from these places have surfaced. Even the most dangerous detainees have the rights to defend themselves before the courts. Whereas the killing fields and torture cells of Pakistani Army and its intelligence agencies are never taken into notice. Baloch political prisoners are suffering the most brutal torture possible, which is at much higher scale than the brutalities in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo detention centres. Baloch prisoners are tortured and kept for years before their bullet-riddled bodies are dumped in desolate places.

The statement read that “when Israeli Army arrests any Palestinians they acknowledge it and inform the family members about the whereabouts of the detainees. All lawful procedures are abided while dealing their cases. Similarly in every part of the world the political prisoners are given the status of war prisoners whereas in Balochistan despite of continuous requests to UN and other civilized nations thousands of Baloch activists are neither given the status of war prisoners nor they were granted the due rights entitled to them in UN charter.”

The BNV also strongly criticised Pakistan by for not allowing the international media to independently visit Balochistan and compile objective reports about the human rights violations there. “In case of any attack by an occupying force on a nation the International media immediately reports the affairs whereas the Pakistani Army does not allow any news of Baloch genocide and the abduction of thousands of Baloch men, women and children. None of the Independent and International media outlets have access to the war torn land of Balochistan.”

The statement of Baloch National Voice said, the civilized world has never taken notice of the indiscriminate use of Napalm, cluster phosphorus bombs and other chemical weapons by Pakistan in Balochistan. Pakistan is using these dangerous weapons with full [international] impunity. Pakistan is conducting a fully planned and calculated genocide of Baloch men, women and children.

The statement further said, to maintain its repressive regime on Baloch land the Pakistani forces are committing extreme brutalities on Baloch people. The 1945 charter of UN clearly gives equal rights to all the nations. We are justified to ask that whether the civilized members of UN have ever taken notice of the occupation of Baloch land?

No one can deny the importance of UN and its charter but the question arises whether the UN is abiding by its own regulations and fulfilling its responsibilities? Like any other nation the Baloch nation also wants the UN to become a strong democratic institution but it’s extremely unfortunate to say that the ground facts are not very encouraging. The UN has sent its peacekeeping missions all over the world in the time of need and has prosecuted the war criminals in International court of justice. Unfortunately, it has, so far, ignored the large-scale brutalities Pakistan has been committing in Balochistan from past several years. The UN has failed to send its fact finding missions to war affected regions in Balochistan.

Instead of giving membership to Pakistan in Human Rights Council of UN the organization should have investigated the human rights violations in Balochistan by Pakistani forces. But the International Organization failed to take even a slightest notice of Balochistan situation. The membership to Pakistan is the license to further continue its brutal repressive acts in Balochistan with immunity. The Baloch nation is justified to be of the opinion that instead of abiding the International rules the UN is backing Pakistan and her brutalities in Balochistan.

The BNV said, “Pakistan is not only committing genocide of Baloch people but it is also responsible for destroying the peace of civilised world. We once again appeal the UN to take notice of Pakistani barbarism and atrocities and Balochistan and recognise Baloch the legitimate struggle of Baloch people against the forceful occupation of their sovereign state, Balochistan.”
