A senior Jamiat leader killed in Quetta


Islamabad: A senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in Quetta city in the country’s southwest today.
The gunmen barged into the home of Maulana Mohammad Qasim at Sariab Road in Quetta this afternoon and opened fire at him, police said. Qasim was hit by several bullets and died while being taken to hospital, police officials said.

The attackers managed to escape. The slain leader headed the Balochistan chapter of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan. Angry activists of the party protested against the killing.
No group claimed responsibility for the killing. The motive for the murder could not immediately be ascertained.
