Survey for new gas deposits completed in Sui

Quetta—The long-delayed two-dimension survey to explore new natural gas deposits in Sui area of Dera Bugti district has been completed confirming heavy gas deposits in the area.

Inspector General Balochistan Frontier Corps Major General Obaidullah Khattak told media men here on Saturday that the survey could not be conducted for the last 15 years due to poor law and order situation in the area despite its imminence to explore new gas deposits in view of depleting already in-use gas resources in Sui gas field. He lauded the FC for ensuring peace in the area paving the way for smooth completion of this survey of paramount national importance.

He said the two-dimension survey in Kharan desert and Barkhan has also been completed and exploitation of newly discovered natural resources in these areas will soon be launched.

He said Behloal and Duki coal fields have resumed production creating innumerable job opportunities for the local youth besides generating substantial revenue for the government due to the FC efforts to restore peace.

He said establishment of a medical centre in Duki, construction of a hostel at Loralai accommodating 100 students and 960 scholarships for students from Duki by Balochistan FC amply substantiate the fact that the FC not only contribute in maintaining peace but also generously patronize programmes benefiting the people of the province. He also announced to ensure medical treatment to two minor boys Farhan and Sher Khan who got seriously injured in a landmine explosion in Babar Tak area of Bakhan district on March 17 last.

On the occasion, he referred to the fair organized by FC in collaboration with the provincial government departments on the eve of Pakistan Day in the provincial capital and said the way people of all ages participated in the fair makes its amply clear that the province people strongly desire for peace.

He vowed to continue stern action against the elements involved in spoiling peace in the province. “The state is powerful and its writ will be established at all costs,” he said and asked the aggrieved Baloch youths to join hands with the government for the development of their areas.

He said a family member of Khan of Kalat Agha Suleman Dawood had offered for mediating reconciliation with those who were on self-proclaimed exile in the United Kingdom. “The government would welcome Khan of Kalat to return home,” Major General Khattak assured.

He rejected any military operation in any part of the province including Dera Bugti district.

Referring to subversive activities across the province during the current year, he said as many as 331 such activities took place in the province causing 107 causalities besides making dozens of people permanently handicapped.
