The heartbroken mom of a woman killed in the Long Island pharmacy massacre a year ago returned to the store Sunday morning to leave a picture and light a candle in her daughter’s memory.
“I miss her so much,” said Pat Taccetta, mom of 33-year-old Jamie Taccetta, who was picking up a prescription at Haven Drugs in Medford when she and three other people were shot to death by a pill-crazed gunman. Taccetta wept in her car after leaving the photo of Jamie and the candle outside the store.
Last Father’s Day, David Laffer walked into the pharmacy, shot all four people in the store, loaded his knapsack with painkillers and left. He was sentenced to life in prison with no parole in November. His wife, Melinda Brady, who served as the getaway driver was sentenced to 25 years.
Four white roses were left outside the shuttered pharmacy overnight, addressed to each of the four victims — Taccetta, Jennifer Mejia, 18, a high school senior who worked at the store, pharmacist Raymond Ferguson, 45, and customer Bryon Sheffield, 71.
