Three robbers killed in Khanpur encounter


KHANPUR: Three alleged robbers were killed and six others including two robbers sustained bullet injuries in a shootout near here on Sunday.

SP Investigation Sheraz Nazir told APP that about 12 to 15 robbers stormed into the house of a farmer Sufi Iqbal in Chak 45 Abbasia and held his family hostage. The outlaws started rampage when Sufi Iqbal taking advantage of the situation informed his friend, who raised alarm about the presence of robbers through a loudspeaker of the village mosque.

After hearing, the villagers gathered near Iqbal’s house and informed the police. A police team headed by DSP Sheikh Abid Akhtar cordoned off the village. Sensing the situation, the outlaws fled the village and took refuge in Bangla Sheikh Qasimwala fields.

The robbers also shot at and injured four villagers. Seeing the police, the criminals opened fire at the police. In retaliation, three robbers were killed and two others received critical bullet wounds.
