Apple’s WWDC 2012 keynote brought with it a bundle of software and hardware updates. But a new iMac was not among them. However, fresh designs are reportedly set to land next year.
In an article on WWDC 2012, The New York Times’s David Pogue wrote in reference to new iMac and Mac Pro models that “An executive did assure me, however, that new models and new designs are under way, probably for release in 2013.” While an off-hand remark is hardly an official confirmation, it suggests that Apple isn’t forgetting about the iMac altogether.
Likely updates for the all-in-one system include a Retina Display and – naturally – faster processors than current models. Apple’s Mac Pro desktops did receive a minor spec bump following WWDC 2012, but nothing compared to the changes in the 15in MacBook Pro.
Big announcements from WWDC 2012 included the full scoop on iOS 6 features, a release date for OS X Mountain Lion and new MacBook models.
