Soda bottle bomb explodes outside Cape home

SAGAMORE - After reporting a loud boom that shook windows, a resident found the remains of an exploded soda bottle bomb in the street outside his home Sunday, according to fire officials.
A Winston Avenue resident called the police at 12:30 p.m. Sunday to report the exploded soda bottle and a deformed soda bottle containing bomb-making material in the street in front of his house, said Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Carrara.

The night before at 11:30 p.m. the same resident heard an explosion that shook his windows, Carrara said.
The state police bomb squad Sunday detonated the soda bottle bomb that did not explode. The Bourne police are investigating the incident, Carrara said.
