150 Balochistan missing persons traced


QUETTA: Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gailu said on Monday that incumbent government is striving to put the province on the road to progress. Efforts were afoot to bring the disgruntled Baloch leaders in the national mainstream.

"About 150 missing persons have been traced due to the efforts of the incumbent government," he said during the budget speech for the financial year 2012-13 Balochistan Assembly here.

He noted that PPP-led coalition government in the province pursued the policy of reconciliation and withdrew cases against the political figures besides releasing leaders and activists of various political parties who had been detained in different cases.

"Check posts of the Frontier Corps, after receiving complaints from public were removed minister stressed and added that over one hundred and fifty people who went missing from different parts of the province were recovered, he maintained.

However, he said that the provincial government is serious to resolve the plight of the people and was extending its all-out cooperation to the commission formed on the Enforced Disappearances by the federal government.

"Soon after the democratic government took over, under the supervision of CM Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani and Governor Balochistan Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, we contacted annoyed Baloch leaders to find amicable solution to the issue of Balochistan," he said adding the efforts are still in progress to win their hearts back.
